Mary Lou (Keener) Morgenstern, 92, of Russell, Kansas, passed away Monday, July 13, 2020 at Main Street Manor in Russell.
Mary Lou was born October 2, 1927 in Russell, Kansas. She was the daughter of Nathan and Louise (Sander) Keener. She grew up in Ellis County, Kansas a few years before moving to Russell with her family and attended schools there.
Mary Lou was united in marriage to Vernon Edward Morgenstern on July 16, 1947 in Russell. This union was blessed with two sons, Mike and Todd. They made their home in Russell. Vernon preceded her in death on May 24, 2014.
Mary Lou was a devoted wife and homemaker for her sons. She was a member of the St. John Lutheran Church. She enjoyed playing Bridge with local friends, being on the golf course, volunteering for American Cancer Society, fishing and traveling around the country.
Mary Lou’s surviving family include her two sons, Mike Morgenstern (Susan) of Lone Tree, Colorado and Todd Morgenstern (Kim) of Ellinwood, Kansas; three grandchildren, Jill Dillon (Chris) of Denver, Colorado, Hannah Lewellyn (Drew) of Denver, Colorado and Katie Morgenstern of Ellinwood, Kansas.
Mary Lou was preceded in death by her parents; husband Vernon, sister Jeanette Staley, half sister Thelma Pemberton and brother Jack Keener. A private family burial of ashes will follow at a later date in Russell City Cemetery. No visitation will be held.
