Dorothy M. Hopper, 98, of Russell, Kansas, died on Friday, October 02, 2020, at the Main Street Manor in Russell.
Dorothy was born on September 21, 1922, in Dorrance, Kansas, the daughter of William G. and Amelia (Woelk) Teppe. She was raised on the family farm in Dorrance and graduated from Dorrance High School in the class of 1940. After high school she attended Ft. Hays State University. She met, fell in love and was united in marriage to James David Hopper, Jr. on February 16, 1943, in Hays, Kansas. From this union Dorothy and James were blessed with 6 children James III, William, Becky, Tom, Mike and Tim. With 6 children to raise, Dorothy worked very hard as a homemaker, wife and mother. Dorothy loved to travel and spend time with her family, she especially enjoyed spending time with her many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Surviving family include her daughter Becky Vogt and sons Tom Hopper and wife Carol, Mike Hopper and wife Beth and Tim Hopper and wife Laura, 7 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband James who passed away on April 09, 2016, and sons James D. Hopper III and Bill Zack Hopper.
A graveside service to celebrate Dorothy’s life will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Wednesday, October 07, 2020, at the Russell City Cemetery in Russell, Kansas. Visitation will be from 4 P.M. to 8 P.M. on Tuesday, October 06, 2020, at the mortuary. Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary of Russell, Kansas is in charge of the funeral service arrangements.
