Cora Elizabeth “Corlene” (Chancy) Steinle, 85, of Russell, Kansas, passed away Saturday, November 7, 2020 at the Russell Regional Hospital.
Corlene was born August 8, 1935, in Russell. She was the second of five children born to Earl and Susan (Klein) Chancy. She grew up and attended schools in Russell until she was fourteen and the family moved to Livermore, California. Later she returned to Kansas and graduated from Ft. Hays State University with a degree in Liberal Arts.
Corlene was united in marriage to LaVern E. Steinle on November 26, 1977 in Great Bend, Kansas. They made their home in Russell.
Corlene was a devoted wife. Earlier in life she worked as an operator for the Russell Telephone Company. She was also known for being an Artist, working in paintings, sculptures and ceramics. She attended St. Mary’s Catholic Church. She enjoyed all types of art, reading, writing and studying religion.
Corlene’s surviving family include her husband of 42 years, LaVern of the home; daughters, Constance Swan of Dana Point, California and Cynthia Swan of Russell, Kansas; son, Thomas Swan of San Clemente California; step daughters, Holly Betts of Waldo, Kansas, Melissa Leslie of Boring, Oregon and Maribeth Rush of Geneseo, Kansas; step sons, Curtis Steinle of Garden City, Kansas, Kirby Steinle of Russell, Kansas, Martin Steinle of Bunker Hill, Kansas, and Scott Steinle of Bunker Hill, Kansas; sisters, Margaret Dentici of Livermore, California and Marlene Coronado of Mountain Ranch, California; 23 grandchildren and 33 great grandchildren.
Corlene was preceded in death by her parents and brother Paul Chancy.
A Private family service will be held at a later date. Cremation has taken place. A Memorial has been established as the Corlene Steinle Memorial Fund. Contributions and condolences may be sent to Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary, who is in charge of these arrangements.
