Donald “Don” Wayne Hull, age 84, of Omaha, NE died Wednesday, January 6th at Methodist Hospital in Omaha.

Don Hull was born February 2nd, 1936, in Lincoln, Kansas, and while he lived in many small Kansas towns during his childhood, he spent from 8th grade until High School Graduation in Waldo, Kansas.  He graduated from High School in 1954, and married his High School sweetheart, Wanda Kay Ward, on August 7th, 1955.  Don and Wanda were married at the Waldo KS United Methodist Church and remained married until the end, with over 65 years together.

He continued his education at Fort Hayes State in Hayes, KS, receiving a Bachelors Degree with a Major in Mathematics, and a Minor in Shop.  He taught briefly in the small Kansas towns of Bloom and Waldo.  He then moved to Albion, NE to teach and coach football for a few years, but spent the bulk of his career in Columbus, NE, teaching and coaching various sports, along with teaching Driver’s Education during summers for over 20 years.  While teaching in Columbus, he earned his Master’s Degree in Mathematics from the University of Nebraska.  After retiring from teaching in Columbus, he spent 5 years working at Becton-Dickinson in Columbus before really retiring to Rogers, AR. There he spent his time fishing for bass in Beaver Lake with the Dirty Twenty Fishing club, worked on wood projects with the Wood Chuck club, and joined the local Masons, as well as participating in many social card clubs.

Don was also interested in sports, reading, camping, gardening, and home remodeling for him and his wife, as well as his children.  One of his granddaughters put it best:  “…the world feels a little emptier today because the best man I have ever known has left it.”

Don is survived by his wife Wanda (Ward) Hull of the home; daughter, Karla Dawn (Hull) Faucher of Omaha, Nebraska and Terri Kay (Hull) Smith of Mesquite, Texas; four granddaughters, Lisa Marie, Jennifer Leigh, Christina Grace and Amanda Kay; and five great grandsons, Brandon Damien, David Zane, Seth Alexander, Zachary Thomas and Corbin Kenneth.

A private Christian Burial will be held at Vincent Cemetery near Luray, Kansas, with William Stacy Ellsworth of Waldo Kansas United Methodist Church officiating.  A Celebration of Life Memorial will be planned for after pandemic issues are behind us.  A Memorial has been established with the United Methodist Church of Waldo, Kansas, contributions and condolences may be sent to Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary of Russell, who is in charge of these arrangements.
