Dan Edward Koehler, 82, of Lawrence, Kansas and former Natoma and Osborne County, Kansas, died on Thursday, September 22, 2022, at his home in Lawrence.
Dan was born on April 07, 1940, in rural Osborne County, Kansas, the son of Harold and Ellen F. (Kirkpatrick) Koehler. He was raised in Osborne County and Natoma, Kansas and graduated from Natoma High School in the class of 1958. He met, fell in love and was united in marriage to Ellen Sue Pfortmiller on February 25, 1961, in Natoma. From this union Dan and Sue were blessed with two children, a son Brad and a daughter Melissa. Dan worked for 45 years as a lineman and foreman for the Kansas Power and Light Company. He was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church and always attended church wherever they lived. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping with family and friends. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family, and he especially enjoyed being with his grandchildren.
Surviving family include his wife Sue of the home; son Brad Koehler and daughter Melissa Koehler-Morton and husband Clark all of Lawrence, Kansas; sisters Barbara Griffin and husband David and Delores Koehler all of Natoma, Kansas; 1 granddaughter, Megan and 2 great grandchildren, Jagger and Ruby. He was preceded in death by his parents and grandson-in-law, Alex. A graveside celebration of Dan’s life will be held at 1 P.M. on Wednesday, September 28, 2022 at the Natoma Lutheran Cemetery in Natoma, Kansas. Memorial contributions can be made to the Natoma Heritage Seekers Museum and sent in care of the mortuary. Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary of Russell and Natoma, Kansas, are in charge of the funeral service arrangements.
