Errol L. Maranville

Errol Lynn Maranville, 71, of Waldo, Kansas, died on Wednesday, February 12, 2020, at the Hays Medical Center in Hays, Kansas.

Lynn was born on August 31, 1948, in Russell, Kansas, the son of Chester E. and Bessie M. (Scott) Maranville.  He grew up in Russell until age 12 and moved to Denver, Colorado.  He graduated from Washington High School in Denver in the class of 1965. After high school he was married to Jane Nichols and from this union they were blessed with 3 daughters Eilisa, Leslie and Jamie.  Not long after being married he was drafted and he served in the United States Army and fought in the Vietnam war and received a bronze star.  His marriage to Jane ended in divorce after 10 years.  Lynn was fortunate to find love a second time when he met and was united in marriage to Joanne Hoffman on March 07, 1982, in Tacoma, Washington.  He worked as a freight claims inspector with the Union Pacific Railroad from 1967 to 1995.  He was a member of the Waldo United Methodist Church in Waldo, Kansas.

Surviving family include his wife Joanne of the home; mother Bessie Maranville of Russell, Kansas; daughters Eilisa Maes and husband Randy of Anchorage, Alaska, Leslie Vun of Tacoma, Washington and Jamie Harmon and husband Shane of Olympia, Washington; son William Ryan Hoffman and wife Regina of Charlotte, North Carolina and daughter Lisa Ann Murphy of Seattle, Washington; sister Cherry A. Noel and husband James of Russell, Kansas and 15 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father and brother William R. Maranville. A private burial was held at 11 A.M. on Friday, February 14, 2020, at the Russell City Cemetery in Russell, Kansas with Pastor Stacey Ellsworth officiating.  The Russell V.F.W. Post #6240 provided a military honor guard.  A memorial service will be held at a later time.  Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary of Russell, Kansas, is in charge of the funeral service arrangements.
