Roger G. Schultze

Roger George Schultze, 83, of Osborne, Kansas, passed away Thursday, April 4, 2019 at the Parkview Care Center in Osborne.

Roger was born at home in the Kill Creek Community on January 20, 1936 to Reginald H. and Mildred A. (Bealby) Schultze.  His family later moved to the Covert area and he attended school in Covert and Natoma, graduating from Natoma High School in 1953.  It was there that he met and later married the love of his life, Levetta June Locke, on August 23, 1955, in Phillipsburg, Kansas. To this union were born three children, Kendall, Kim and Wade. Roger and Levetta enjoyed farming and ranching and found great joy in checking their cattle and bringing in the harvest together for over 55 years.  Together they managed the Feed Bunk Café at the Osborne Livestock Sale Barn where Roger manned the grill.  Roger was a member of the Kansas Livestock Association and was highly regarded for the quality cattle herd be built over the years.  His greatest joys were his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.  Family gatherings were an anticipated event that brought out the twinkle in his eyes and filled him with chuckles of laughter.

Roger is survived by his son Kendall Schultze (Tammy) of Waldo, Kansas; daughter, Kim Topham (Greg) of Peabody, Kansas; son, Wade Schultze (Tina) of Osborne, Kansas; brother, Rex Schultze (Rita) of Osborne, Kansas; 8 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his parents and his beloved wife, Levetta. The love and devotion Roger shared with Levetta, especially as her health declined, will always be cherished by his family.

Celebration of Roger’s Life will be held at 2:00 PM, Friday, April 12, 2019 at the Free Methodist Church in Osborne.  Graveside service will be held at 5:30 PM, Friday at Natoma City Cemetery in Natoma, Kansas.  The family will be present to greet friends after the service in the church fellowship hall. A Memorial has been established with Osborne Livestock and Osborne Free Methodist Church.  Contributions and condolences may be sent to Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary, who is in charge of these arrangements.
