Betty I. Laubhan

Betty Ione (DeVore) Laubhan, 95, of Russell, Kansas and formerly of Gage, Oklahoma, passed away Monday, June 7, 2021 at the Russell Regional Hospital.

Betty was born January 29, 1926 in Russell County, Kansas.  She was the youngest of six children born to Verne and Eva Grace (Brown) DeVore.  She grew up and attended school in Gage Oklahoma and graduated from Gage High School.

Betty was united in marriage to Fred George Laubhan, Jr. on May 2, 1948 in Canadian, Texas.  This union was blessed with two daughters; Deborah and Jane.  They made their home in Gage.  Fred preceded her in death in March of 2004.  Later that year Betty moved to the Russell area.

Betty was the Ellis County, Oklahoma Tag Agent for many years.  She also was a secretary for Texaco and frequently helped Fred with his Dry Cleaning business.  She was a member of the Church of Christ in Gage and in Russell.  She was a member of Beta Sigma Phi.  She enjoyed playing Bridge with the local Bridge Club, doing jigsaw puzzles and attending her grandchildren’s events.  She was a very social person that knew no stranger.

Betty’s surviving family include her two daughters, Deborah Greene (Stanley) of El Dorado, Kansas and Jane Carter (Jim) of Russell, Kansas; six grandchildren, Darcy Fowler, Jordan Carter, Julie Counts (Chad), Colette Greene, Mason Greene (Caitlin) and Brooke Hebert (Doug); and twelve great grandchildren.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents; husband Fred; grandson Joey Carter, two brothers, Wayne DeVore and Keith DeVore; and three sisters, Hazel DeVore, Evelyn Fishgrab and Alene DeVore.

A Graveside Service will be held at 1:00 PM, Tuesday, June 15, 2021 at the Gage Cemetery in Gage, Oklahoma.  No visitation will be held.  Memorials may be given to the Church of Christ of Russell, Kansas, and sent in care of the mortuary.  Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary of Russell, Kansas, is in charge of the funeral arrangements.
