Eric Matthew Steinert, 36, of Russell, Kansas, died in a tragic car accident on Thursday, January 13, 2022, 2 miles south of Claflin, Kansas.
Eric was born on July 01, 1985, in Russell, Kansas, his mother being Debora (Birzer) Steinert. He grew up in Russell and graduated from Russell High School in 2004. After high school he graduated with an associate’s degree in Ag Diesel Industries from Southeast Community College. He worked for Ace Lease Service Inc. as a tank truck driver and also did some farming. He was a supporter of Pheasants Forever and a member of the National Wild Turkey Federation. He enjoyed hunting, farming, collecting and shooting guns. He was a dog lover and enjoyed drinking beer with his family and friends.
Surviving family include mother Debora Steinert of Larned, Kansas; his brothers Brian Steinert and Jordan Steinert both of Russell, Kansas; and his extended family Marty, Linnea, Beau and Bobbi Jo Radke and Candice Hamilton.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents James and Leona Birzer, paternal grandparents Rueben and Lucile Steinert and uncles Greg Birzer and Duane Steinert and aunt Betty Barnes.
A celebration of Eric’s life will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Wednesday, January 19, 2022, at the United Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Milberger, Kansas. Burial will follow at the Milberger Cemetery in Milberger, Kansas. Visitation will be from 9 A.M. to 8 P.M. on Tuesday, January 18, 2022, with family present to greet guests from 6 P.M. to 7 P.M. Tuesday evening at the mortuary. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be given to the FFA Alumni and sent in care of the mortuary. Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary of Russell, Kansas, is in charge of the funeral service arrangements.
