Harold Lee Pohlman, 56, of Russell, Kansas, passed away Monday morning, July 6, 2020 at the Salina Regional Hospital in Salina, Kansas.
Harold was born December 29, 1963 in Russell, Kansas, the son of Adam Henry “Hank” and Marjorie Lee (Dumler) Pohlman. He grew up in Russell and graduated from Russell High School in the Class of 1982. He then attended Barton County Community College where he obtained a degree in Diesel Mechanics.
Harold was united in marriage to Londa Lynn Thomas on May 25, 1985 in Russell, Kansas. This union was blessed with two children; Brett and Heather. They made their home in Russell. Londa preceded him in death on March 31, 2008. Later in life he found his soulmate with Ronda Pasek.
Harold started working at the age of eight when he mowed yards here in Russell. During his high school and college years he worked at the AGCO grain elevator. After getting his degree he worked at John Deer. Later he worked for the City of Russell for many years before becoming the owner and operator of the Pohlman Hardware Store. Then later he was an oil field pumper for Clenney Oil Company. He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church. He was a past Exalted Ruler for the Russell Elks Lodge. He was a volunteer for the Russell City Fire Department for over 20 years reaching the rank of Captain. He also was a member of the Russell Masonic Lodge and the Isis Shrine of Salina. He enjoyed playing and watching sports, an avid KU fan, loved being outdoors hunting and fishing. He loved spending time with his grandsons.
Harold’s surviving family include his daughter, Heather Pohlman of Russell, Kansas; son, Brett Pohlman (Ashley) of Hays, Kansas; companion, Ronda Pasek of the home; step-daughter, Michele McNelis (Pat) of Russell, Kansas; mother, Marjorie Pohlman of Russell, Kansas; sister, Barbara Krug (Brad) of Russell, Kansas; niece, Christina Kerns (Theo Mullen) of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; and four grandchildren, Mason Pohlman, Royce Pohlman, Lennox Pohlman and Lainey Krayca. He was preceded in death by his father and wife Londa.
Graveside Services for Harold will be held at 10:30 AM, Friday, July 10, 2020 at Russell City Cemetery in Russell, Kansas. Visitation will be held from 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM, Thursday, July 9, 2020 at Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary. Memorials have been established with RCACF Scholarship Fund or St. John Lutheran Church.
