Larry M. Morrill

Larry Matthew Morrill, 81, of Paradise, Kansas, died on Monday, December 16, 2024, at the Hays Medical Center in Hays, Kansas.

Larry was born on November 07, 1943, in Russell, Kansas, the son of John Cline and Edythe Laverne (Parrott) Morrill.  Larry grew up in the Russell County area in and around Luray, Kansas.  He graduated from Luray High School in the class of 1961 and from Fort Hays State University in 1967 with degrees in Agriculture and Biological Science. He was blessed with two children, Sheila and Monty.  He worked his family farm and enjoyed being outdoors, farming, and ranching.  He also worked for 25 years as a NASDA Enumerator for the United States Department of Agriculture. He served for 53 years on the Paradise Fire Department and 40 years as an EMT. He was a member of the Luray United Methodist Church and Masonic Lodge of Natoma, and Russell.  He was also a former Paradise City Councilman and served on the Mount Hermon Cemetery Board.  He enjoyed doing stone sculpture and contributed work to the Grassroots Art Center in Lucas, Kansas. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren.  He was very excited when he found out he was going to be a great-grandfather soon.

Surviving family include his daughter Sheila McGuire and husband Craig of Hays, Kansas; son Monty Morrill and wife Kristi of Russell, Kansas; grandchildren Tara Rohn and husband Trever, Emily McGuire, Axel Hrenchir and Cole Morrill.  He was preceded in death by his parents.

Cremation has been selected by the family, and a memorial service to celebrate Larry’s life will be held at a later date.  Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary of Russell, Kansas, is in charge of the funeral service arrangements.
