Maralyn Rae Wilson, 84, of Russell, Kansas, died on Thursday, October 06, 2022, at Hays Medical Center in Hays, Kansas.
Maralyn was born on August 10, 1938, in Waldo, Kansas, the daughter of Ray and Sarah V. (Beck) Mead. She grew up in Waldo and graduated from Waldo High School in 1956. She met fell in love and was united in marriage to Levi Duane Wilson on September 30, 1956, at the Waldo United Methodist Church. From this union Maralyn and Duane were blessed with 4 children Kerry, Kandis, Delayn, and Ty. She graduated from Ft. Hays University and received her bachelor’s degree in nursing. She worked as a registered nurse for 30 years at the Russell Regional Hospital in Russell, Kansas. She was a former member of the Waldo United Methodist Church and the First Christian Church in Russell. Being an avid collector, she enjoyed going to auctions and flea markets always trying to find something unique to add to her collections. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family. She especially enjoyed spending time with her many grandchildren.
Surviving family include her daughters Kerry McDaniel and husband James of Ponca City, Oklahoma and Delayn Wilson of Topeka, Kansas; her son Ty Wilson and wife Susan of Hays, Kansas; brother Gerald Mead and wife Ruth of Clearwater, Florida; sisters Barbara Robertson and Joan Pitts both of Waldo, Kansas; 7 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Duane on March 03, 1984, daughter Kandis Lightfoot, brother Ronald Mead and grandchildren Sarah Lightfoot and Jonathan McDaniel.
A private family graveside service for Maralyn will be held at the Russell City Cemetery in Russell, Kansas. Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary of Russell, Kansas, is in charge of the funeral service arrangements.
