Mary V. Craig, 97, of Russell, Kansas, and died on Thursday, September 09, 2021, at the Main Street Manor in Russell, Kansas.
Mary was born on July 05, 1924, in Shattuck, Oklahoma, the daughter of Jacob and Lydia (Kraft) Long. She grew up in Ransom, Kansas, and graduated from Ransom High School in 1942. After high school she received education degrees from Kansas State University and Ft. Hays State University where she received her master’s degree. She was an elementary school teacher in many locations for 45 years and worked as a teacher for USD #407 in Russell, Kansas. She was united in marriage to Robert L. Craig until his passing in 1995 and was also married to David Goodyear until his passing in 2011. She also lived in Ransom, Kansas, Smith Center, Kansas, Manhattan, Kansas, Claflin, Kansas, Wichita, Kansas Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and Plainville, Kansas. She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma and numerous other clubs and organizations.
Surviving family include her son Mike Craig of Russell, Kansas; grandson Matt Craig and wife Alicia of Colorado Springs, Colorado; grandchildren Piper, Ellie, and Oliver Craig and her sister Lillian Skinner.
A memorial service to celebrate Mary’s life will be held at 1:30 P.M. on Friday, October 01, 2021 at the Trinity United Methodist Church in Russell, Kansas. Cremation has been selected by the family. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Trinity United Methodist Church, 221 N. Maple St. in Russell, Kansas 67665. Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary of Russell, Kansas, is helping with the funeral service arrangements.
