Mikala Lynn Peterson, 24, of Russell, Kansas, died on Tuesday, August 15, 2023, at her home in Russell.
Mikala was born on April 15, 1999, in Russell, Kansas, the daughter of David Muilenburg and Samantha Phillips and was raised by her guardian/mom Robyn Congrove. She grew up and spent most of her life living in Russell and attending Russell Public Schools. She was blessed with her daughter Kenlee Peterson and enjoyed being a mother and homemaker. She enjoyed caring for her daughter Kenlee, fishing, spending time at the lake country cruising and most of all she enjoyed spending time with her large family and many friends.
She is survived by her daughter Kenlee Peterson; Guardian/ mom Robyn Congrove and companion Terry Hashenberger; mother Samantha Phillips and husband Glen all of Russell, Kansas; grandmother Nancy Peterson; brothers Tony Harris and wife Candie of Lincoln, Nebraska, Sean Aldridge of Russell, Kansas, Luke Cottrill and Lorenzo Phillips both of Hays, Kansas; sisters Andrea Harris, Mercadies Congrove both of Russell, Kansas and Autumn Peterson of Hays, Kansas; uncles Rick and Marvin Peterson,Russell,Kansas. She was preceded by her father and grandfather Richard “Pete” Peterson.
A gathering service to celebrate Mikala’s life will be held from 6 P.M. to 8 P.M. on Monday, September 11, 2023, at the Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary in Russell, Kansas. Open visitation will be from 9 A.M. to 8 P.M. on Monday, September 11, 2023, at the mortuary. Memorials may be given to help with funeral costs and can be sent to PVP Mortuary * 610 N.
