Kay Lyn Dumler Dinkel, 67, passed away Wednesday February 15, 2023 at her home in rural Russell, Kansas surrounded by her family. Kay was born March 12, 1955 in Russell to Carl A Dumler and Florence E (Keil) Dumler. She lived her entire life in Russell and graduated from Russell High School in the Class of 1973. LoAnn Carolyn Sechtem, 81, of Russell, Kansas, died on Tuesday, February 07, 2023, at the Russell Regional Hospital. LoAnn was born on March 09, 1941, in rural Hoisington, Kansas, as the first child of Homer and Alvina (Karst) Eurich.  When her father died in an explosion, LoAnn was only a year old.  Her mother then moved LoAnn and her sister Marjorie to the family farm with Alvina’s parents, William and Lydia Karst.  The family’s language of choice was German until Alvina met and married Calvin Templeton, a soldier from West Virginia who had been stationed at Walker Air Force Base

Marvel was born March 28, 1935 on the family homestead near Covert, Kansas, the only daughter of Albert Lyle and Helen Lorene (Orr) Mitchell. She lived her early years on the family farm with her parents and older brother, Doyle and younger brother, Gerald. Marvel enjoyed her life on the farm. Belva Virginia Robertson, 98, of Russell, Kansas passed away Wednesday, January 25, 2023 at Homestead Assisted Living in Russell. Virginia was born January 20, 1925 to Lee and Opal (Armstrong) Buck on the family farm in Smith County, Kansas.  She attended high school at Smith Center, Kansas and Central College in McPherson Kansas, where she received her degree in 1942.  She continued her education at Fort Hays State College majoring in Elementary Education.  Virginia’s teaching career began in a one room school in Smith County. Paul Clarence Popp, 96, of Russell, Kansas, passed away Tuesday, January 24, 2023 at the Azria Health Woodhaven in Great Bend, Kansas. Paul was born October 31, 1926 in Kansas City, Missouri.  He was one of five sons born to Peter and Paulina (Miller) Popp.  He grew up on the family farm in northern Barton County.  Paul served his country in the U.S. Army from November, 1954 to November, 1956 at the end of the Korean War.  After his tour, he returned to the family farm. Mary Ann Wolan, 67, of Russell, Kansas, passed away Wednesday, January 18,2023 at the Russell Regional Hospital in Russell. Mary Ann was born May 15,1955 in Chicago, Illinois. She was the daughter of Walter Joseph and Frances Florence (Pakula) Wolan. She grew up in Calumet Park, Illinois and graduated from Mother of Sorrows high school in Blue Island Illinois.  She then attended Fox College/Concordia University Secretarial School.  Mary Ann was a Secretary for International Harvester and the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics(NIAI). Janet Dee Flickinger, 81, of Salina, Kansas, died on Monday, January 16, 2023, at the Kenwood View Health and Rehabilitation Center in Salina, Kansas. Janet was born on June 05, 1941, in Russell, Kansas, the daughter of Georg Emanuel and Irene (Meier) Laubhan.  She grew up in Russell and graduated from Russell High School in the class of 1959.  She met, fell in love and was united in marriage to Jon M. John Michael Anthony Proffitt, 58, of Russell, Kansas, died on Saturday, January 14, 2023, at the Salina Regional Hospital in Salina, Kansas.
