Leland Steven Dix, 73, of Ellis, Kansas, passed away Sunday, January 30, 2022 at Hays Medical Center in Hays, Kansas. Leland was born January 13, 1949 in Phillipsburg, Kansas, the son of Leonard F. and Lula Jane (Richardson) Dix.  He grew up in Stockton and graduated from Stockton High School in 1967. Leland was united in marriage to Ruth Schilowsky on January 31, 1970 in Stockton.  This union was blessed with two children, Richard and Christina.  Ruth preceded him in death on June 2, 1995.  Later, Leland was united in marriage to Theresa (Hupfer) Seier Gardner on July 3, 2009. 

Ramon Lee Laurie, 77, of Russell, Kansas, died on Thursday, January 27, 2022, at the Hays Medical Center in Hays, Kansas. Ramon was born on November 30, 1944, in Wichita, Kansas, the son of Loran Clyde and Hazel Lucile (Brashear) Laurie.  He grew up in the Derby, Kansas, area and graduated from Derby Senior High School.  After high school he attended Wichita State University in Wichita, Kansas, working towards his electrical engineering degree.  After completing Army ROTC, Ramon quit college to serve his country as a helicopter pilot in the Vietnam War.  He was married to Judith Ann Sanders on

Edward Carlyle Herman, 86, of Russell, Kansas, died on Tuesday, January 18, 2022, at the Main Street Manor in Russell. Edward was born on March 29, 1935 in Omaha, Nebraska, the son of Boyd and Elsie Merle (Bennett) Herman.  His family moved to Sylvan Grove, Kansas, where he grew up as a young boy and graduated from Sylvan Grove High School in the class of 1953.  After high school, he proudly served his country by joining the United States Marines.  After completing his military service, he came back home and met, fell in love and was united in marriage to

Gary Allen Bowers, 66, of Russell, Kansas, passed away Tuesday, January 18, 2022 at Russell Regional Hospital. Gary was born November 22, 1955 in Calais, Maine.  He was one of seven children born to Charles and Norma (Farthing) Bowers..  He grew up in Maine.  Gary served his country in the U.S. Marines for eight years.  Gary and Adamae April Skinner have been together for 32 years.  This union was blessed with two daughters, Angela and Dita.  They lived in Kimball, Nebraska; Campo, Colorado; Cheyenne, Wyoming; and in 2003 he moved to Russell.  During his life he was a computer repairman,

Earl L. Chesney, 71, of Natoma, Kansas, passed away Sunday, January 16, 2022 at the Redbud Village in Plainville, Kansas. Earl was born May 27, 1950 in Hays, Kansas. He was one of five sons born to Homer Bruce and Eileen (Meyers) Chesney.  He grew up in Natoma and graduated from Natoma High School. Earl served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.  After his tour of duty, he returned to the Natoma area. Carly Marie Mudd, 43, of Colorado Springs, Colorado, peacefully  passed away Saturday, January 15, 2022 in Colorado Springs with her family by her side.  Carly courageously battled medical issues, but sadly it was too much to overcome and she left us much too soon. Roderic E. Deines, 90, of Russell, Kansas died on Friday, January 14, 2022, at Pioneer Ridge Nursing Home in Lawrence, Kansas. Rod was born on October 18th, 1931, in Russell, Kansas, the son of Herman and Marcella (O’Grady) Deines. He spent most of his younger years in Russell but for a short time lived in Chicago, Illinois.  Growing up he worked the family business at the Deines Furniture Store.
