Joan Marie Mosher, 87, of Russell, Kansas, died on Thursday, October 01, 2020, at her home in Russell. Joan was born on January 15, 1933, in Concordia, Kansas, the daughter of Clarence and Mabel (Demante) Starkey.  She grew up in Clyde, Kansas, and graduated from Clyde High School.  She met, fell in love and was united in marriage to Harold “Gene” Mosher on July 28, 1950, in Concordia, Kansas.  From this union Joan and Gene were blessed with a daughter Margaret.  Joan was a loving wife, mother and homemaker and took pride in working in her yard and flower garden.

Rebecca Lynn Baer, 59, of Russell, Kansas, died on Tuesday, September 29, 2020, at the Salina Regional Hospital in Salina, Kansas. Rebecca was born on August 08, 1961, in Phoenix, Arizona, the daughter of William P. and Iva Darlene (Gordon) Baer.  She grew up in California and lived in Colorado Springs, Colorado for most of her life before moving to Russell several years ago.  She worked for many years at the Russell Regional Hospital as a switchboard operator.  She was a longtime member of the Bible Baptist Church in Russell.  She is survived by her sons Jake Kossak of Mt.

Donna Kay Schmitt, 75, of Gorham, Kansas, passed away Tuesday, September 29, 2020 at the Hays Medical Center in Hays, Kansas. Donna was born April 5, 1945 in Hays, Kansas.  She was one of four children born to Johnnie and Mary Ann (Talbot) Schmitt.  She grew up on the family farm south of Gorham and graduated from Gorham High School in the Class of 63. Donna was a personal assistant for many families for many years in the Gorham area.  She also was the owner and operator of the Schmitty’s Restaurant and liquor store in Gorham.  She was a member

James Michael “Jim” Balthazor, 69, of Russell, Kansas, died on Sunday, September 27, 2020, at the Russell Regional Hospital in Russell, Kansas. Jim was born on September 06, 1951, in Concordia, Kansas, the son of Armand and Helen (Appleby) Balthazor.  He grew up in Concordia, Kansas, and graduated from Notre Dame High School in the class of 1969.  After high school, he received his teaching degree from Ft. Hays State University in 1977, majoring in vocal music, science and elementary education.  He met, fell in love and was united in marriage to Lucinda Mae “Cindy” Spatz on August 18, 1974,

Harold Sheridan Brumley, 75, of Russell, Kansas, passed away Saturday, September 19, 2020 at his home with family by his side. Harold Sheridan Brumley was born on November 06, 1944, in Pawnee, Oklahoma, the son of Harold and Delma Jane (Trent) Brumley.  He grew up in the Okeene, Oklahoma and Wichita, Kansas, areas before moving to Russell, Kansas.  He attended Russell schools and then joined the United States Navy in 1962.  He worked for Crete Carriers, Speedway and Real Cattle Company in McCool Junction, Nebraska from which he retired.  He was a life member of the Russell V.F.W. #6240 and

Bessie Muriel Maranville, 99, of Russell, Kansas, left her earthly home on September 19, 2020 at the Russell Regional Hospital in Russell, Kansas. Bessie was born on September 04, 1921, on her parent’s homestead in Russell County, Kansas.  Bessie was the daughter of Allen Ray and Jessie (Herron) Scott.  Bessie grew up in Russell County and graduated from Russell High School in the class of 1940.  Bessie met, fell in love and was united in marriage to Chester Eli Maranville on June 28, 1941, in Russell, Kansas.  From this union Bessie and Chester were blessed with 3 children; William Ray,

Althea M. (Colton) Pellant, 87, of Russell Kansas, passed away Thursday morning, September 17, 2020 at Wheatland Nursing Center in Russell, Kansas. Althea was born October 1, 1932, to Victor and Florence (Bellows) Colton, in Delphos, Kansas. Althea was united in marriage to John E. Pellant, of Aurora Kansas on December 29, 1951. This union was blessed with five children; Mike, Doug, Sonia, Denise and Mark. Althea’s early years were spent in Delphos. In 1945 the family moved to a farm in the Lamar neighborhood. Marlyn D. “Dean” Brown, 88, of Russell, Kansas, passed away Wednesday, September 9, 2020 at the Russell Regional Hospital in Russell. Dean was born April 23, 1932 in Hays, Kansas.  He grew up in Hays and later in Waldo, Kansas.  He graduated from Waldo High School. Dean served his country in the U.S. Army from 1953 to 1955.  He was a Company Radioman.  After his tour he transferred to the Army Reserves and returned to Russell. Dean was united in marriage to Barbara Wagner on November 18, 1956 in Russell.  This union was blessed with two children; Greg and Marietta. 

Timothy L. Bridges, 36, of Russell, Kansas, died on Sunday, September 06, 2020, at the Russell Regional Hospital in Russell, Kansas. Tim was born on February 29, 1984, in Russell, Kansas, the son of Ivan F. and Loretta M. (Croslin) Bridges.  He lived in Hays, Great Bend, Hutchinson, Hoisington and Russell, Kansas, and attended Russell Schools.  He was united in marriage to Catherine M. Handle on September 16, 2006, in Hays, Kansas.  He enjoyed playing tennis, basketball, taking long walks and spending time with family.
