Betty Juanita Leerskov Brenner, 99, of Russell, Kansas, died on May 06, 2019at the Brookdale East Senior Living Center in Wichita, Kansas. Betty was born on May 10, 1919, in Atwood, Oklahoma, the daughter of Oscar M. and Maggie (Slaten) Bishop.  Betty grew up in Oklahoma, Texas and New Mexico.  She met, fell in love and was united in marriage to Leo Noble “Swede” Leerskov on December 02, 1939, in Bowlegs, Oklahoma.  From this union Betty and Leo were blessed with two daughters Yvette and Brenda.  Her great pleasure was being a wife, mother and homemaker.  She also enjoyed her

Mabel Irene Koelling Pruter, 98, of Cartwright, Oklahoma, and former Natoma, Kansas resident, died on Sunday, May 05, 2019, at the Texoma Medical Center in Denison, Texas. Mabel Irene Schneider was born at Laton, Kansas, December 18, 1920, to Emma (Rediker) and John A. Schneider.   She was baptized January 9,1921 in Immanuel Lutheran Church north of Natoma. Her father died when she was four and the family moved to Natoma.  She was confirmed at St. John’s in Natoma.  Mabel attended all twelve years of education in the Natoma school graduating in 1939. She married Walter Koelling on September 6, 1939

He was born in rural Paradise KS on March 14, 1931, to Marshall T & Anna Bertha Marie (Eulert) Maupin. Virginia Faith Steponick, 90, of Russell, Kansas, died on Thursday, May 02, 2019, at the Wheatland Nursing Center in Russell. Virginia was born on May 12, 1928, in Russell, Kansas, the daughter of John and Grace (McAllister) Stephens.  She grew up in Russell and graduated from Russell High School in 1946.  She was united in marriage to Mike Steponick in 1976.  Mike preceded her in death in 1997.  She worked for Bell Helicopter for many years.  She also lived in Washington, Texas and California for many years.  She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church of Russell. Steven Randolph Sherman, a lifelong resident of DesPlaines, Il., passed away on Easter Sunday, April 21, 2019.  An avid philatelist, Steven was an active member of The Scandinavian Stamp Club, The Glen Ellyn Philatelic Club and the Northwest Stamp Club.  Steve was also a member of the Friends of the Mount Prospect, Arlington Heights and DesPlaines Public Libraries.  He was the Secretary of the Skjold Lodge of the Sons of Norway.  Also a talented genealogist, he traced his lineage back to 742 AD. Roger George Schultze, 83, of Osborne, Kansas, passed away Thursday, April 4, 2019 at the Parkview Care Center in Osborne. Roger was born at home in the Kill Creek Community on January 20, 1936 to Reginald H. and Mildred A. (Bealby) Schultze.  His family later moved to the Covert area and he attended school in Covert and Natoma, graduating from Natoma High School in 1953.  It was there that he met and later married the love of his life, Levetta June Locke, on August 23, 1955, in Phillipsburg, Kansas.
