Betty Ann Driscoll, 77, of Russell, Kansas, died on Friday, January 12, 2024, at her home in Russell. Betty was born on April 30, 1946, in Russell, Kansas, the daughter of Elton A. and Winifred E. (Benton) Teppe.  She grew up in the Russell and Dorrance, Kansas, areas and graduated from Dorrance High School.  After high school she graduated from Brown Mackie Business College in Salina, Kansas.  She was formerly married to Jack Driscoll and from this union they had a daughter Annette.  She was a former employee of the Russell City Policy office and worked as a dispatcher.  Surviving

Ada L. (Dougherty) Glick-Wanamaker, 102, of Winfield, Kansas and formerly of the Russell and Plainville, Kansas area, passed away Saturday, January 27, 2024 at the Cumbernauld Village in Winfield. Ada was born on January 26, 1922 in the Codell, Kansas area.  She was the youngest of nine children to Arthur Louis and Bertha (Camp) Dougherty.  She grew up on the family farm and graduated from Plainville High School in the Class of 1939. Ada was united in marriage to Henry Eugene Glick on July 9, 1940 in Hays, Kansas.  This union was blessed with three children; Barbara, Anita and Tom. 

Ruth Ann (Brown) Betts, 80, of Russell, Kansas, passed away Thursday, January 25, 2024 at Wheatland Nursing Center in Russell. Ruth Ann was born December 5, 1943 in Russell, Kansas.  She was one of two children born to George W. and Clarissa L. (Miller) Brown.  She grew up in Russell and graduated from Russell High School in 1961. Ruth Ann was united in marriage to Gene D. Jason Anthony Liederbach, 51, of Russell, Kansas, passed away Sunday, January 21, 2024 at the Hays Medical Center in Hays, Kansas. Jason was born December 28, 1972 in Hayward, California.  He was one of two sons born to Gary K. and Delores A. (Crow) Liederbach.  At the age of five, the family moved to Russell.  He grew up and attended schools in Russell until his senior year when he attended and graduated from Wilson High School. Dean Vernon Keil, age 82, of Russell, Kansas, passed away, surrounded by his family, on Monday, January 15, 2024, at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, Kansas. Dean was born on October 20, 1941, in Great Bend, Kansas to the late John and Anna (Krug) Keil. The fifth of five children, Dean grew up on a farm in southern Russell County. Kristen Faye (Kuhn) Windscheffel, 39, of Russell, Kansas, passed away on Saturday, January 6, 2024 at Russell Regional Hospital, with the same courage and grace she fought her 30 month battle with Cancer. Kristen was born September 26, 1984, in Pratt, Kansas, the youngest daughter born to Tim and Faye (Thompson) Kuhn. Driven to excel from her earliest years, Kristen’s childhood foreshadowed the far reaching and lasting impact she would have on so many. Kristen stands as a highly distinguished graduate of Pratt High School. She was a leader on the field, in the classroom, and in the student body.

John E. Simmons, Jr., 78, of Russell, Kansas, passed away on Thursday, January 04, 2024, at the Russell Regional Hospital. John “Truck” Simmons was born on August 01, 1945, in Russell, Kansas, the son of John E., Sr. and Helen S. (Simacek) Simmons.  He grew up in Russell and graduated from Russell High School where he excelled in basketball.  After high school, he graduated with a bachelor’s degree from Ft. Betty Joy (Zweifel) Pruter, 87, of Natoma, Kansas, passed away Tuesday, January 2, 2024 at her home. Betty was born June 26, 1936 on the family farm near Waldo, Kansas.  She was one of four children born to Robert and Bernice (Clow) Zweifel.  She grew up in the Waldo area and graduated from Waldo High School.  She then attended Ft. Hays State University and graduated with a degree in Education. Betty was united in marriage to Orville Leon Pruter on June 5, 1955 in Amherst, Kansas.  This union was blessed with six children; Dale, Susie, Gale, Daryl, Doug and Kevin.
