Bennie Lee Norris, Jr., 38 of Gardner , Kansas and formerly of Russell died Friday, March 6, 2009 at his residence in Gardner , Kansas . Bennie was born June 9, 1970 in Steubenville , Ohio , the son of Bennie Lee, Sr. and Mary Lou (Zerr) Norris. Bennie and his family moved around during his childhood, but they mainly lived in Florida and Hays, Kansas .

Bennie was a truck driver for Trans Am Company while he lived in Russell. In 2004 he moved to Gardner , Kansas and worked for the Absolute Plumbing, LLC in Olathe as a plumbing technician.

Bennie was a funny loving guy with a great since of humor that enjoyed being with his friends karaoking or spending time at “The Man Shack”. He also loved to go fishing.

Surviving family include his companion, Shawn Maxwell Hamilton of Gardner; sons, Tanner Lee Norris of Russell and Ryan Alexander Norris of Gardner; mother, Mary Zerr of Dodge City, KS; father, Bennie, Sr. of Ocoee, Florida; four brothers, Wayne Norris of Savanna, GE., Shawn Norris of Las Vegas, NV, Robert Norris of Wichita, KS and Corey Zerr of Dodge City, KS; three sisters, Cynthia Cody of Moody, AL, Dawn Long of Olathe, KS and Elly Huff of Gardner, KS; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Celebration of Bennie’s Life will be held at 10:30 AM Friday, March 13, 2009 at Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary of Russell with Pastor Dale Lane Officiating. Cremation will follow the services. Visitation will be from 9 AM to 8 PM Thursday at the mortuary with the family present to greet friends from 6 PM to 7 PM. A memorial has been established as The Bennie Norris, Jr. Memorial. Contributions and condolences may be sent in care of Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary who are in charge of these arrangements.
