Cheryl A. Hoffman

Cheryl Ann Hoffman , 57, of Russell, Kansas, died on Monday, April 01, 2013, at the Hays Medical Center in Hays, Kansas.

Cheryl was born on September 08, 1955, in Denver, Colorado, the daughter of William Henry and Edna (Dowd) Jones.  She grew up in the Denver area and attended local schools.   She met, fell in love and was united in marriage to Virgil R. “Bud” Hoffman on February 11, 1984, in Cheyenne Wells, Colorado.  They raised 7 children Jennifer, Paula, Jeremy, Cindy, Ray, Pam and Tom.  In 1993, Bud and Cheryl moved the family to Russell, Kansas.  Cheryl worked as a certified nurse’s assistant, working for Main Street Manor at the Russell Regional Hospital for several years and also worked for Wheatland Nursing Center in Russell.  She enjoyed watching NFL football, collecting Disney movies, crocheting, romance novels, camping and gardening.  Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her many grandchildren.

Surviving family include her husband Bud Hoffman of the home, daughter Jennifer Hoffman and husband Tony Wyant of Hays, daughter Paula Williamson and husband Bud of Craig, Colorado son Jeremy Misenhelter and partner Andrew Lipker of WaKeeney, Kansas, daughters Cindy Hoffman of Valley, Washington, Pam Hoffman of Colville, Washington and son Ray Hoffman of Denver, Colorado; 7 grandchildren Chris, Logan, Becky, Draven, Jaylen, Jaxon and Gabriel and 4 step grandchildren Brad, Robert, Kehaulani and Keali’i.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her stepson Tom Hoffman.

A memorial service to celebrate Cheryl’s life will be held at 11 A.M. on Friday, April 05, 2013, at the Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary in Russell with Reverend Larry Danforth officiating.  Visitation will be from 9 A.M. to 8 P.M. on Thursday, April 04, 2013.  Family and friends are invited to join together for food and fellowship at the family’s home in Hays immediately following the chapel service.  Scattering of the ashes will take place at a later date.  Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary of Russell is in charge of the memorial service.
