Dean Schneider

Archie Dean Schneider, 71 of Russell died Friday, Aug. 15, 2008 at his home. Dean was born on the family farm just south of the Russell – Barton County line on May 3, 1937. He was the son of Pete, Jr. and Anna (Herdt) Schneider. At the age of five, his family moved to the Russell area and he has lived most all of his life here. Dean was a graduate of Russell High School .

Dean worked for the Russell County Highway Department for many years as a truck driver. At an earlier age, he worked at the bowling alley in Bakersfield , California .

He was a member of the St. John Lutheran Church of Russell. He enjoyed watching television and collecting movies.

Surviving family include his companion, Jean Gibson of Russell; brothers, Pete and wife Mary Schneider of Russell and LeRoy and wife Nema Schneider of Jamestown, Kansas; sisters, LaVerta Ann Longnecker of Russell and LaVera Fields of Kimball, Nebraska. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Earlin “Red” and Harold Schneider.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, August 19, 2008 at St. Johns Lutheran Cemetery . Visitation will be from 9 AM to 8 PM Monday, August 18, 2008 at Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary in Russell. Condolences may be sent in care of the mortuary or at www.pvpmortuary.com .
