He first played semi-pro baseball in Puerto Rico before transferring to the 910

Hubert worked for the City of
Hubert was united in marriage to Betty Yost on January 25, 1947 in Russell.
This union was blessed with three children; Lizbeth, Larry and Michael.
His surviving family include his wife Betty of the home; daughter, Lizbeth Thielen of Russell; sons, Larry Laubhan and wife Sydnie of Russell and Michael Laubhan and wife Kathleen of Wichita; sister, Ruth Sands and husband Bob of Hobbs, New Mexico; sister-in-laws, Irene Laubhan and Eleanor Laubhan both of Russell; five grandchildren, Angela (Thielen) Smith,
Adam Thielen, Lucas Alexander Thielen, Matthew Laubhan and Mark Laubhan; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, Victor, Georg, Edwin and Paul; and infant sister, Maria.
