Irene M. Snook

Irene Marie Snook , 84 of Wakeeney and formerly of Russell died Tuesday, October 6, 2009 at the Trego County Hospital in Wakeeney , Kansas . Irene was born September 21, 1925 in Dubuque , Kansas the daughter of John and Katherine (Meier) Luerman. She grew up in Dubuque until high school when she moved to Bunker Hill to attend school.

Irene was united in marriage to Vernon Fink. Later she was united in marriage to Oscar Marion “Bud” Snook.

Irene was a dedicated homemaker and mother. She also was a ticket collector at the Dream Theater. She has lived most of her life in Russell.

Irene attended St. John Lutheran Church of Russell and belonged to the Women’s Circle. She enjoyed family gathering, croqueting, and looking for great “sales”. She was the kind of lady who told you the truth no matter what.

Surviving family include son, Dan Snook and wife Dana of Richardson, Texas; three daughters, Vicky McCarty and husband Eddie of Charlestown, Indiana, Celeste Tipton and husband Charlie of Lawrence, Kansas and Debbie Snook and companion Steve Vaupel of Russell; two step sons, Dwane Snook and wife Windy of Montana and LeRoy Snook of Russell; sister, Eunice McBroom of Wichita, Kansas; nine grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands, stepson Dennis Snook, brother Everett Luerman, infant brother Ernisto Luerman, and grandson Bryan Breech.

Celebration of Irene’s Life will be held at 10:30 A.M. Friday, October 9, 2009 at Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary of Russell. Cremation will follow the service. Visitation will be from 9 AM to 8 PM Thursday at the Mortuary with the family present to greet friends from 7 PM to 8 PM.
