Orville Leon Pruter, 84, died on Friday, October 30, 2020, at the Rooks County Health Center in Plainville, Kansas.
Orville was born on November 17, 1935, at Natoma, Ks to Alvin and Yvonne (Goad) Pruter. He grew up on the family farm north of Natoma. He graduated in the class of 1953, from Natoma High School. On June 5, 1955, he was united in marriage to Betty Zweifel at the Amherst EUB Church. They had 5 sons and one daughter. Orville worked in the oil fields, 14 years at Western Power and Light in Plainville, Kansas and he drove the activity bus for local school district. He was an avid farmer and worked for the County of Osborne Highway Department. Orville and Betty were nominated to the Osborne County Hall of Fame in 2016.
He loved singing in the church choir, working with the county tourism and being with family and friends.
He was a member of the Osborne County tourism, Kansas Sampler Foundation, Northwest Kansas Area Agency on Aging and a member of the Natoma Heritage Seekers.
He leaves behind wife Betty, of the home; children Gale (Teresa), Daryl (Lisa), Douglas (Dina), and Kevin (France’). He has 14 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, cousins and very good friends.
Orville was preceded in death by father Alvin, Mother Yvonne, 2 brothers and daughter and one son. He will be greatly missed.
A graveside service to celebrate Orville’s life will be held at 2:30 P.M. on Thursday, November 05, 2020, at the Natoma City Cemetery in Natoma, Kansas. Viewing will be from 9 A.M. to 8 P.M. on Wednesday, November 04, 2020, at the mortuary in Russell, Kansas. Memorials may be given to the Natoma Public Library or Pohlman Heritage Museum and sent in care of the mortuary at 610 N. Maple St. Russell, Kansas 67665. Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary of Russell and Natoma, Kansas, are in charge of the graveside services.
