Phillip George Gibbs, Jr. 71, died on Monday, September 23, 2024, at the Hays Medical Center in Hays, Kansas.
Phil was born on December 16, 1952, in Jamestown, New York, the son of Phillip George, Sr. and Betty Jane (Mason) Gibbs. He grew up in Frewsburg, New York and graduated from Frewsburg High School. He also lived in Cloverdale, Indiana and Indianapolis, Indiana for many years before moving to Russell, Kansas in 2019, working as a heavy machinery mover and millwright. He met, fell in love and was united in marriage to Linda Lorena Harmon on August 22, 2023, in Green Castle, Indiana. He enjoyed his dogs, hunting, fishing and gun collecting. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his wife Linda, in which his entire world revolved around.
Surviving family include his loving wife Linda of the home and many longtime friends from New York and Indiana and new friends in Russell, Kansas.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A memorial service to celebrate Phil’s life will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Monday, October 14, 2024, at the Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary in Russell, Kansas. Cremation has been selected by the family. Family will greet guests the day of the service. Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary of Russell, Kansas, is in charge of the funeral service arrangements.
