Richard L. Lewis, 80, of Henderson Nevada, passed away on Tuesday, June 2 in Henderson, Nevada.
Richard was born in Russell Kansas, to Joseph Victor Lewis and Edna Ruth Lewis on December 10, 1939.
Richard completed a Master’s Degree in mathematics from Pittsburg State University. After graduation, he enjoyed teaching college-level mathematics at Pittsburg State University in Kansas and Hayward State College in California. Richard transitioned to college administration where he enjoyed working as the Registrar at several Universities in Texas, South Dakota, and Arkansas. He enjoyed spending time with his friends, his dogs, cooking, and traveling all over the United States.
Richard is survived by his sons Michael Lewis and Steve Lewis both from Fayetteville, Arkansas; brothers Robert Lewis from Yuba City, California and Jack Lewis from Dallas, Texas; Grandchildren Brealyn, Maclane, Justin, Cade, and a few great-grandchildren. Friend M. Elliot Carte of Henderson, Nevada. He was preceded in death by his parents.
A graveside service will be held at 11 A.M. on Friday, June 26th, 2020, at the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Russell, Kansas. Cremation has been selected and family will greet guests the day of the service at the cemetery. Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary of Russell, Kansas, is in charge of the funeral service arrangements.
